Baptisms, Marriages and Funerals
Baptism
Baptism is not simply naming a child, or even giving thanks for the gift of a child, but it is making the child a member of Christ's church, so it implies a willingness to help that child enter into the Christian heritage that has been made theirs. Children from families living in the parish, or which have a strong connection with our church, can be baptised at the Good Shepherd. A leaflet is available from the Vicar or Churchwardens which explains in detail what is involved, please contact enquries@churchofthegoodshepherd.co.uk for further information. Baptisms either take place at the 10 o clock service or at 12 noon, after the Parish Eucharist on the fourth Sunday of the month.
Marriages
Marriage is a lifelong commitment to mutual love and faithfulness. To be married at the Good Shepherd it is legally necessary that at least one partner lives in the parish or is on our electoral roll. Couples wishing to arrange a wedding or if you are getting married in another church and are enquiring about Banns please contact David, the vicar, on vicar@churchofthegoodshepherd.co.uk who will arrange an interview.
Funerals
A funeral is a final commitment of the person who has died into the keeping of God, who is faithful and merciful. To have a funeral service in the church itself, it is necessary that the deceased lived in the parish or had a strong connection with our church. Further enquires please contact the vicar on vicar@churchofthegoodshepherd.co.uk
