Worship and PrayerWorship and Prayer

Each Sunday there is an 8am said celebration of Holy Communion, which, on the third Sunday of the month, is followed by breakfast, and a 10am Parish Eucharist with music. Occasionally the latter incorporates a Parade Service attended by the local cubs, beavers, brownies and rainbows. Both Sunday services use the modern language of Common Worship, order 1, and a sermon is preached. There is also a mid-week celebration on Wednesdays at 9.30am which uses the more traditional language of Common Worship order 2. Special booklets are used on all these occasions to make following the service as straightforward as possible.

Morning Prayer is said on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 9.30am, in the side chapel of the church. The attendance is small but regular, including both laity and clergy. Occasional choral evening services are held at 6pm to mark the great festivals of the Church year.

On one Sunday each alternate month the Parish Eucharist includes a simple healing ministry, offered just before the Peace and conveyed through the laying on of hands with prayer for those who wish to come one at a time to the altar rail to receive it. People are invited to come either for their own need or for the need of another. This is a well-used and valued aspect of our Church life. In the months where there is no such ministry at the Eucharist, there is a simple non-Eucharistic service of healing offered one Sunday evening at 6pm.
